Security at TopRate

Exactly what protects your money and your data — stated plainly.

How we protect you

Registered remittance provider

AUSTRAC is Australia's financial-intelligence agency — we're a registered remittance provider that meets strict AML/CTF obligations.

Identity verification

Every customer completes identity verification before sending — it protects you and the people you send to.

Encryption

Sensitive personal data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Fraud & transaction monitoring

Transfers are screened and monitored for fraud and unusual activity.

Keep your account to yourself

Do not share your username or password with anyone, and watch out for email phishing.

Tell us if you think your account has been compromised, lost or stolen, or used without your knowledge.

Watch out for scams

Be careful when someone you do not know asks you to send money: for example after an unsolicited email, for an internet auction, a newspaper or telephone offer, or a promise of love or marriage.

Why we check your identity

Australian law requires us to obtain, verify and record identifying information about all customers.

We may ask for photographic evidence of your identity, such as a copy of your passport or driver's licence.

We check the details you give us electronically, against data held by identity-verification providers, financial institutions and government sources.

Verifying your identity is part of our own regulatory obligations, and we do not pass the cost of it on to you.

Rules that protect every transfer

Pay for each transfer from a bank account in your own name.

We can cancel a transaction we consider fraudulent.

We may suspend or cancel the service where we reasonably believe there has been fraud or unlawful conduct, or where the law requires it, and we will tell you unless the law prevents us.

We may set identification requirements for your recipient, and we can decline to deliver a payment if we cannot verify who they are.
