Special Rate, Rewards & Referral Program — Terms

Last updated 30th June 2026

These terms (the “Program Terms”) govern the TopRate Special Rate, Rewards and Referral Program (the “Program”) operated by TOP RATE TRANSFER PTY LTD (“Top Rate Transfer”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They are additional to, and form part of, our Terms and Conditions. Where these Program Terms conflict with the general Terms and Conditions on a Program matter, these Program Terms prevail.

The Program is available to eligible customers in Australia and New Zealand. Benefit amounts and the governing law depend on your home jurisdiction (see Governing law).

1. Definitions

In these Program Terms, unless the context requires otherwise:“Account” means a Top Rate Transfer customer account that has completed identity verification (KYC) and is in good standing.“Base Rate” means our standard, market-based exchange rate for a given currency corridor at a given time. The Base Rate is variable and indicative, is sourced from third-party market data, and includes an operator margin. It is not the interbank/mid-market rate.“Cashback” means a rewards benefit earned on Eligible Transfers that accrues as Special-Rate Credit, calculated on the Standard-Rate Amount at your applicable Cashback tier (see Cashback and tiers).“Eligible Transfer” means a completed, successfully cleared outbound money-transfer transaction that meets the eligibility conditions below, has a send amount of at least AUD 100 / NZD 100 (the cashback minimum), and is made on a payout corridor we offer.“Fee Credit” means a non-cash benefit (Referral Credit and promotional credit) that reduces our transfer fee on an Eligible Transfer. Fee Credit does not improve the exchange rate.“Special Rate” means the exchange rate you receive on a transfer when the Base Rate is improved by the application of your available Special-Rate Credit. The Special Rate is variable, indicative, not customer-set, and not guaranteed.“Special-Rate Credit” means a non-cash rewards benefit, tracked in your home currency (AUD for Australia; NZD for New Zealand), applied as a rate subsidy to improve the exchange rate on a transfer. Special-Rate Credit is not cash, not redeemable for cash, and not withdrawable.“Standard-Rate Amount” means the portion of a transfer's send amount that qualifies and converts at the Base/standard rate. It is the base on which Cashback is calculated.“Referral Credit” means the Referrer's benefit under the Referral Program: a Fee Credit (AUD 20 / NZD 20) issued to the referring customer's Referral Wallet that reduces our transfer fee on an Eligible Transfer. Referral Credit does not improve the exchange rate and is not the new-customer Welcome Cashback Balance.“Referral Wallet” means the separate, fee-only ledger in your Account that holds Referral Credit (and any promotional fee credit), used solely to reduce transfer fees. It is distinct from the cashback/Special-Rate Credit ledger.“Welcome Cashback Balance” means the universal new-customer welcome benefit of AUD 100 / NZD 100 that every new customer receives on registration and KYC completion — whether or not they were referred. It accrues as Special-Rate Credit and funds the Special Rate. It is the same amount for all new customers and is not a referral-contingent or referral-exclusive reward.

2. Eligibility

  • 2.1. The Program is open only to individuals who: (a) hold an Account that has completed identity verification (KYC) to our satisfaction and to the standard required under applicable AML/CTF law (AUSTRAC in Australia; DIA-supervised obligations in New Zealand); (b) are at least 18 years of age (the minimum age is 18 in both Australia and New Zealand); (c) are resident in, and transacting from, Australia or New Zealand; and (d) maintain an Account in good standing (not suspended, restricted, or under fraud/compliance review).
  • 2.2. Eligibility, benefit amounts and currency are determined by your home jurisdiction: AUD benefits and Australian law for Australian customers; NZD benefits and New Zealand law for New Zealand customers.
  • 2.3. We may exclude any person or transaction from the Program where required by law, by our AML/CTF or sanctions obligations, or under our anti-abuse rules.

3. How the Special Rate works

  • 3.1. When you make a transfer, we apply our Base Rate — our standard, market-based exchange rate for that corridor at that moment. The Base Rate is variable and indicative, changes with the market, and includes our margin. It is not the interbank/mid-market rate and we do not represent it as such.
  • 3.2. Your Special Rate is the Base Rate improved by the Special-Rate Credit you have earned and apply to that transfer. The more Special-Rate Credit you accumulate, the better the effective rate you can receive — this is what we mean by a rate that “grows” as you send.
  • 3.3. You do not set, choose, or control the exchange rate. The Special Rate is not a guaranteed rate. The exact Base Rate, the applied Special-Rate Credit, and the resulting Special Rate are disclosed to you and confirmed at the time of each transfer, before you confirm the transaction.
  • 3.4. Special-Rate Credit improves your rate only on transfers; it has no value outside an Eligible Transfer.

4. Earning and applying credit

  • 4.1. The Program uses two distinct, separately-tracked benefit types, which apply to different parts of the transaction: (a) Special-Rate Credit — improves the exchange rate (rate subsidy), earned through Cashback on Eligible Transfers; and (b) Fee Credit — reduces our transfer fee (not the rate), comprising Referral Credit under the Referral Program and promotional/promo-code credit under promotions we run from time to time.
  • 4.2. The two benefit types are not interchangeable: Special-Rate Credit can only improve the rate on an Eligible Transfer; Fee Credit can only reduce the applicable transfer fee. Each is tracked separately in your Account. There is no per-transfer cap on the Special-Rate Credit applied. When you start a new Eligible Transfer, your available Special-Rate Credit is applied toward that transfer, and any unused balance carries forward to your subsequent transfers.
  • 4.3. Neither Special-Rate Credit nor Fee Credit has any monetary face value to you as cash, and neither is redeemable, withdrawable, or transferable for cash. Their only function is, respectively, to improve your exchange rate or to reduce your transfer fee on an Eligible Transfer.
  • 4.4. From time to time we run specific promotions (for example, promo codes, limited-time bonus rates, or seasonal offers). Each such promotion is governed by its own promotion-specific terms, which we publish at the point of the offer. By participating in a promotion (for example, by entering a promo code or opting in), you agree to that promotion's specific terms, which are incorporated into and form part of these Program Terms for that promotion. Where a promotion's specific terms conflict with these general Program Terms, the promotion-specific terms prevail for that promotion only. Promotion-specific terms cannot exclude or limit your non-excludable rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or the New Zealand Fair Trading Act (FTA).

5. Welcome Cashback Balance

On registration and KYC completion, every new customer receives a Welcome Cashback Balance of AUD 100 (Australia) / NZD 100 (New Zealand) — whether or not they were referred. It accrues as Special-Rate Credit (cashback ledger) and funds the Special Rate (improves the exchange rate). It is the same amount for all new customers, is a non-cash benefit, does not expire while the Account is active and in good standing, and is not a referral-contingent or referral-exclusive reward. The NZD figure is a flat amount, not FX-converted from AUD.

6. Cashback and tiers

  • 6.1. You earn Cashback on each Eligible Transfer as Special-Rate Credit. The Cashback percentage is tiered by your lifetime count of completed transactions, as set out in the table below.

Cashback rate by loyalty tier and lifetime completed transactions
TierLifetime completed transactionsCashback rate
Standard0+ (entry tier)1.00%
Silver15 or more1.25%
Gold30 or more1.50%
Platinum60 or more2.00%

  • 6.2. Cashback is calculated on the Standard-Rate Amount of the transfer — that is, the send amount that qualifies and converts at the standard rate — not on the fee, the margin, or any amount already subsidised by Special-Rate Credit. Your tier is determined at the time the transfer completes.
  • 6.3. Cashback is earned only on Eligible Transfers with a send amount of at least AUD 100 / NZD 100. Transfers below this minimum do not earn Cashback.
  • 6.4. Cashback-derived Special-Rate Credit accumulates and carries forward across transfers and over time, so your available credit can grow as you continue to send.
  • 6.5. Cashback-derived Special-Rate Credit does not expire while your Account remains active and in good standing. It is forfeited only on Account closure, suspension for cause, or under the anti-fraud/clawback provisions, subject to applicable law and non-excludable consumer guarantees. Your available credit is shown in your Account.
  • 6.6. Cashback applies to all payout corridors we offer. The cashback-eligible amount may vary per send-currency pair and is configured by us per currency pair, subject always to the AUD 100 / NZD 100 minimum. The applicable cashback is disclosed at the point of transfer.

7. First Transfer Free

We waive our transfer fee on your first Eligible Transfer only. “Free” refers to the transfer fee only — it does not mean the transfer is free of the exchange-rate margin built into the Base Rate, nor of any third-party, intermediary, or recipient-side fees. The fee waiver applies once per customer and is not transferable or redeemable for cash.

8. Referral Program

  • 8.1. Only an existing eligible customer (a “Referrer”) with an Account in good standing may refer a new customer. The Referral Program is for customers only and excludes our separate Affiliate Scheme; you cannot earn under both for the same activity.
  • 8.2. A new customer who joins via a valid referral and completes KYC (a “Referred Customer”) receives the same universal Welcome Cashback Balance (AUD 100 / NZD 100) that every new customer receives — not an additional or referral-exclusive $100. Their $100 is Special-Rate Credit that funds the Special Rate; it is a non-cash benefit, not cash.
  • 8.3. The Referrer receives AUD 20 (Australia) / NZD 20 (New Zealand) — flat amounts, not FX-converted — as Referral Credit (a Fee Credit) paid into the Referrer's Referral Wallet, which reduces our transfer fee on an Eligible Transfer (it does not improve the rate). It is credited when the Referred Customer completes their first successfully-cleared Eligible Transfer (the “Qualifying Event”). No Referrer benefit is issued before the Qualifying Event.
  • 8.4. A Referrer may earn the Referrer benefit (AUD/NZD 20 Fee Credit) for a maximum of 10 paid referrals per rolling 12-month period — i.e. up to AUD/NZD 200 per year. Paid referrals beyond this cap within any trailing 12-month period do not earn the Referrer benefit (the Referred Customer still receives their universal Welcome Cashback Balance regardless).
  • 8.5. Referrer credit expires 60 days after it is issued if not applied to an Eligible Transfer within that period. Expiry is shown in the Referrer's Account.
  • 8.6. The Referred Customer's $100 is the universal Welcome Cashback Balance; it does not expire while the Account remains active and in good standing, and is forfeited only on Account closure, suspension for cause, or under the anti-fraud/clawback provisions.
  • 8.7. All Referral benefits are issued in your home currency (AUD for Australian customers; NZD for New Zealand customers) as flat amounts. Benefits are not FX-converted or transferable between jurisdictions.
  • 8.8. Referral benefits are void where they arise from, or we reasonably suspect, prohibited conduct, including: self-referral; referring yourself under another identity; creating duplicate, fake, or synthetic accounts; coordinated or bulk sign-ups; transfers made primarily to trigger referral benefits; or any breach of the anti-fraud provisions. We may withhold, reverse, or clawback any benefit affected by such conduct, and may suspend Accounts involved.

9. Credit is not cash — no cash-out

  • 9.1. Special-Rate Credit (including Cashback and the universal Welcome Cashback Balance) is a rewards benefit only. Fee Credit (Referral Credit and promotional fee credit) is likewise non-cash. Special-Rate Credit is: (a) not cash and not a stored-value or monetary balance you can spend other than as a rate subsidy on an Eligible Transfer; (b) not redeemable, exchangeable, or withdrawable for cash or any cash equivalent; (c) not transferable to another person or Account (except as expressly provided in the Referral Program mechanics); and (d) of value only when applied to improve the exchange rate on an Eligible Transfer.
  • 9.2. Special-Rate Credit confers no proprietary or contractual right to money. It does not earn interest. On Account closure, suspension for cause, or expiry, unused Special-Rate Credit is forfeited, subject to applicable law and non-excludable consumer guarantees.
  • 9.3. Special-Rate Credit is not “unclaimed money” for the purposes of the Unclaimed Money Act 2008 (Cth) or equivalent state or territory legislation. It has no monetary face value, is not a debt owed by Top Rate Transfer to you, and therefore falls outside the category of financial obligations to which those Acts apply.
  • 9.4. This distinguishes the Program from our separate Affiliate Scheme, under which approved affiliates may earn withdrawable cash commissions under separate terms.

10. Exchange rates and fees disclosure

  • 10.1. Exchange rates shown anywhere in our app, website, marketing, or calculators are indicative only, change continuously with the market, and include our margin. They are not the interbank/mid-market rate.
  • 10.2. The exchange rate applicable to your transfer (including any Special-Rate Credit applied) is the rate confirmed and disclosed to you at the time you make the transfer, before you confirm it. We do not guarantee that any rate shown in advance will be available at the time of transfer.
  • 10.3. Where we say a transfer is “free” or “fee-free” (including First Transfer Free), this refers to our transfer fee only. It does not remove the exchange-rate margin in the Base Rate, and does not cover third-party, intermediary/correspondent, payment-network, or recipient-bank fees, which may apply.
  • 10.4. We do not represent that we provide the mid-market, interbank, or “real” exchange rate. Our Base Rate includes a margin.

11. Variation, suspension and termination of the Program

  • 11.1. We may vary, suspend, or terminate the Program, or any component (Cashback rate, Referral amounts, caps, expiry, eligible corridors, or thresholds), at any time.
  • 11.2. We will give customers at least 30 days' prior notice of any material adverse change to the Program (including reductions to Cashback rates or tiers, referral amounts, caps, expiry, eligible corridors, or the First Transfer Free benefit) via the app, email, or our website, except where an immediate change is required by law, regulator direction, or to prevent fraud, abuse, or security risk.
  • 11.3. Changes will not retrospectively cancel Special-Rate Credit you have already validly earned, except as permitted under the anti-fraud/clawback provisions or by law.
  • 11.4. Nothing in this section limits your non-excludable rights under the ACL or FTA.
  • 11.5. If you have registered for the Program but not yet completed your first qualifying transfer, and we discontinue or materially restrict the First Transfer Free benefit, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. This notice gives you the opportunity to make a qualifying first transfer before the benefit is removed.

12. Anti-fraud, clawback and AML/CTF

  • 12.1. We may withhold, reverse, adjust, or clawback any Special-Rate Credit or benefit, and/or suspend or close an Account, where we reasonably consider that a benefit was earned through, or a transaction is connected to: fraud; chargeback or payment reversal; self-referral or duplicate/synthetic accounts; manipulation or gaming of the Program; breach of these Program Terms; or any conduct inconsistent with our AML/CTF, sanctions, or fraud controls.
  • 12.2. Where a transfer that generated Cashback or triggered a Referral Qualifying Event is later reversed, charged back, refunded, or found to be fraudulent, the associated Special-Rate Credit may be reversed or clawed back.
  • 12.3. Program participation does not override our AML/CTF and sanctions obligations. We may delay, decline, or report transactions, and withhold benefits, as required under the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth)/AUSTRAC rules (Australia) and applicable New Zealand AML/CFT obligations under DIA supervision. Enhanced due diligence may apply.
  • 12.4. Our determination under this section is made acting reasonably; it does not exclude your non-excludable consumer guarantees.

13. Tax

You are responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations that may arise from your participation in the Program or receipt of any benefit. We do not provide tax advice. You should seek independent advice about your circumstances.

14. Privacy

We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including for identity verification, fraud prevention, and administration of the Program. Australian customers are covered under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)/Australian Privacy Principles; New Zealand customers under the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

15. Liability and no guarantee

  • 15.1. Benefits under the Program are provided “as is”. We do not guarantee any particular exchange rate, saving, or outcome from using Special-Rate Credit; the benefit depends on the Base Rate at the time of transfer, which is variable.
  • 15.2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from the Program. Nothing in these Program Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or the New Zealand Fair Trading Act / Consumer Guarantees Act. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to the extent permitted by law.

16. Governing law (Australia / New Zealand)

  • 16.1. Australian customers: these Program Terms are governed by the laws of Australia (the Commonwealth of Australia), and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts. The Australian Consumer Law (a national law) applies.
  • 16.2. New Zealand customers: these Program Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. The Fair Trading Act 1986 and Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 apply.
  • 16.3. Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of their home jurisdiction.
